Whether you publish two articles a month or twenty, one thing helps every team: a content calendar that shows what goes out, when, and who is writing it. We built this template for our own planning, and you're welcome to use it.
Why use a content calendar
- Plan ahead and organize content by theme and type.
- Keep everything in one place and your team on the same page.
- See early what you can write in house and what you should outsource.
- Keep track of your publishing schedule.
- Measure how well each piece of content performs.
What's in the template
- A yearly themes sheet where you set a theme and a short description for each month.
- Twelve monthly sheets, one per month, for planning every piece of content.
- The same details for every piece: theme, content type, distribution, writer, length, publish date, headline, subheadings, main keywords, images, call to action, and goal.
- Color coding by theme, so you can see the balance of your plan at a glance.
How to use it
Start with the yearly themes sheet and give each month a focus. Then open one month at a time and add a row for every piece: the working headline, the content type, who writes it, and when it goes live. Fill in the keywords, the call to action, and the goal before writing starts, so every writer knows what the piece has to achieve.
